Personal exploration reveals that the value of cruises often surpasses expectations, challenging assumptions about their affordability. While traditional travel offers fewer options, a seven-night Canary Islands (MSC) cruise for £655 per person includes flights, accommodation, food, and entertainment, covering all aspects of a week-long stay. This contrasts sharply with a standard Gran Canaria holiday starting at £920, which includes only one beach destination and minimal extras. However, the real difference lies in the experience: the cruise provides five islands, constant variety, and seamless logistics, while the beach holiday offers limited scope and unplanned surprises. To replicate the cruise’s experience, travelers would need to book multiple hotels, arrange transfers, pay for shows, and engage with activities daily, adding over £400 per person. In my own journey, I’ve found that even a single day trip can significantly increase costs, making the cruise’s comprehensive nature both surprising and compelling.
